The SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper represents a completely new and atraumatic process in comparison to conventional methods of closing surgical wounds (sutures and staples). The combination of the zipper and hypo-allergenic self-adhesive strips is an easy, effective, quick, and safe method of closing surgical wounds.

The SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper has a unique bio-adhesive technology which during the first 5 minute of application, the adhesive will increase in its strength while providing enough opportunity for the surgeon to adjust the position of SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper on the wound. After 12 days of application, the strength of the adhesive will gradually diminish. As the result, the removal of SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper is easy and painless.

At the adhesive maximum strength, SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper is not easily detached. Therefore in addition to regular wound application, it works real well with wound in high mobility area such knees or elbows. Combined with the hundreds of zipper teeth lock, it can sustain horizontal tensile force 200 times the strength of suture under the same condition.

The SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper uses microporous material which is breathable and comfortable on patient’s skin. In its design, it has perforated holes serving as blood drainage.
The SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper can be used in straight line wound of various length as well as angular wound up to 60° angle. For details, please consult the User Manual Video

The use of zippers in surgery is a relatively recent phenomenon. Previously only employed in cases involving purulent peritonitis or necrotic pancreatitis for Etapenlavage (a series of planned multiple surgical procedures that are used to reexamine the patient's abdomen). The SURGIZIP™ Surgical Zipper now makes this technology a serious alternative to sutures or staples for primary closure in many types of surgeries.
